Concept and Encounter: The World around 1600

Works originating from the late Renaissance from Dresden’s Kunstkammer form the focal point of the new permanent exhibition on the first floor of the Georgenbau. The works of art from the Rüstkammer inventory are rounded off by objects on loan from various museums belonging to the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden, as well as other institutions and private collections.

The extraordinary pieces of the late Renaissance are highly protected and displayed in the ultra-modern and cutting-edge REIER display cases with active air circulation and filtering. For this exhibition, a total of 36 display cases in various sizes and designs have been delivered and installed.

The display cases meet the highest conservational and technical standards with respect to low-emission materials and tightness. They are fitted with modern lighting technology and anti-reflective glazing, allowing for a pure enjoyment of art experience.
